When the cat’s away  …  Bob had a party with Clairy Brown and the Bangin’ Rackets, Blind Willie McTell and more. The new single from Adia Victoria spiced things up along with Chris Smither, Habibi, Blackfoot Gypsies, Gillian Welch, and Parquet Courts. Bob replayed the great soulful Little Richard cut “I Don’t Know What You Got” and otherwise tried to keep the background fans, cellphones and general paper rustling to a minimum. It’s what radio was meant to be if radio was meant to be broadcast standing up in a crowded elevator and no one else in the elevator knew or cared you were trying to do a radio show. All part of the charm.

John Cale turned 80, Robin Trower turned 74 and the artist known as ? from ? and the Mysterians also had birthdays. A big set was devoted to Little Feat’s upcoming Taft show where they will reprise the Waiting for Columbus Album. And Bob played his newest discovery Kenny Knight who had his only release in 1980.
