Thanks to our friends Nikki Kingery and Bill Cieslewicz at the Cincinnati Business Courier for spotlighting the show in their daily must-read newsletter, “5 Things You Need to Know Today.” We hope the new fans who tuned it liked what they heard.

Olivia Frances, who grew up in Cincinnati and is making her way as a singer-songwriter in Nashville these days, played songs, told stories and charmed Bob and Bill in the studio.

No Depression magazine chose four Artists of the Decade, each of whom is a familiar presence on the show: Rhiannon Giddens, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile and Chris Thile.

As we prepare for our annual Best of the Year show Dec. 18, we take time to wish Darryl Jones a happy birthday. The bass player replaced Bill Wyman in the Rolling Stones in 1993 and still doesn’t get to take a curtain call as a full member of the band. Come on boys, make Jones a real Stone.

Count Bob and Bill as superfine superfans after the Farmer Keenan and Grace Adele (plus bassist John Allen and fiddler Jack Bird) visited the show before their gig at the Southgate House. They played music, told tales and charmed the suits in the station for the monthly board meeting. Oh, that headline? That’s their website. (minus the parentheses).

Bob carried on a Thanksgiving tradition without Bill who was celebrating the day in our nation’s capital. So, there was lots more music without the guys jawing back and forth. Nevertheless, there was sufficient insightful commentary on the newly declared War on Thanksgiving, Jimi Hendrix’s birthday, and double entendres in the Blues. As always, we want some of your pie.

Tonight, the guys welcomed in the studio John Tarvardian, fellow music lover and Blue Snakes & Banjos webmaster nonpareil. Being gracious hosts, Bob and Bill put up with John’s playlist that was all over the road: the Allmans, Tom Jones, Pete Townshend, Zakk Wylde, and the absolute king of cool, Dean Martin. Bob celebrated Norman Greenbaum’s 77th birthday by closing the show with “Spirit in the Sky,” which also happens to be his favorite one-hit wonder. Leave a comment below and let us know what your favorite one-hit wonder is. BTW…Tarvardian votes for Carl Douglas’ “Kung Fu Fighting”.

Well, Bob and Bill managed to squeeze in two hours of their scintillating repartee in the first hour…and still get lots of good music played. Bill, doing his best Big Mike impression, ducked out early but not before recounting seeing Bob Dylan…and…drumroll, meeting Ernie and one of the Rays at the Amy Helm show.
