Bob paid tribute to his birthday (May 28), saluted others born this week (Levon Helm, Peggy Lee, Gladys Knight, John Fogerty) and Bill debuted Allison Russell’s “Outside Child.”
It was Bob’s Birthday Week show, but the call-in connection failed again so Bill saluted him in absentia. Turns out the final week in May is chock full of birthdays, however, with famous artists and friends alike.
On the night of our technological breakthrough (a telephone interview with Karla Bonoff), we suffered multiple technical breakdowns at inopportune times. However, we managed to celebrate Bob’s birthday week along with those of our friends Kyle Havens, Barbara Kelley, Barbara Schmidlapp and John Tarvardian.
With Bob’s 60th birthday only a few days away, we use tonight’s show to celebrate and wish our favorite Gemini a happy birthday. As someone probably once said, “It’s not how old you are. It’s the music you play.” Or something like that. Probably.
