Solo Bob celebrated Sam Moore’s 87th birthday (Sam & Dave) with help from Bruce Springsteen and others and celebrated Martie Maguire’s (Chicks) with help from K.D. Lang. There was a set of truckin’s songs, too. Adia Victoria, Calexico, Los Lobos, Boz Scaggs, Sunny Sweeney and more joined the party. And there was a poignant track about the mortality of dogs.

Bob and BS&B’s Fifth Beatle, Jack Greiner, mucked around in the deep Mississippi mud that is the sordid, rumored history of “Ode to Billie Joe” and sang the praises of its woefully under appreciated author Bobbie Gentry. For good measure, they added Orville Peck’s cover of “Fancy.” They also played two cuts from Delta Sweete. Her masterpiece. Yes, masterpiece.
